My little nice just completed her first year of school and she LOVED it! We saw her grow in leaps and bounds during this year but it was something she did that made the teacher comment enough to send a note home. Towards the end of the year, a new child had started in the class. No one went over and talked to this little girl except Vanessa. She went over and gave her a hug and welcomed her to the class. The little girl has Down's Syndrome and looks a little different. To Vanessa it didn't matter. She has a cousin 2 years older then her with Down's so to her, there was nothing "different" about this little girl. She was just a new girl.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if adults could learn this from a 5 year old?
This is Vanessa. She's my inspiration to be more accepting of others. And I learned it from a kindergartner.
