Playing catch up!

It’s been a while since I’ve been here…. I’m sorry (and I really mean it!) I have so much to tell you and no clue where to start. After a month of training and other assorted tasks, the new job has finally taken off. And I LOVE it! Although I will admit, no one knows *exactly* what my job is… after three weeks or so, they are still refining the duties. The best way I can describe it is sort of like a traffic cop for service tickets. I make sure they get picked up and handled by the resolver groups and if needed, the resolver group calls me to have the ticket rerouted. The thing that really amazes me? The guys I started with, and trained with, come to me with questions about what they should do with the tickets! I want to say “DUDE! You’ve been doing this type of job for years and I haven’t…WHY are you asking ME?!?” But I don’t… I just answer the question and think “If it’s wrong, we’ll get it to the correct spot when they call back” You can’t be afraid of making a mistake. It’s the only way you’ll learn!

Speaking of learning…. Classes were going alright. Macro and Micro Economics are both done! I then started a Marketing class and, for the moment, had to drop it. My schedule at work (with the overtime) has not been stable and right now, my priority is work. The Marketing class will be taken again starting in August. (Not to mention the teacher “call me Dr.M” was a total tool! Watch…just my luck, I’ll get him again in August)

Before I started the new job (at what point can I stop calling it the new job?) I decided to redo my living room. Yup…more home reno projects! When I moved into the house 9 years ago, I kept saying to myself that “someday” I would have enough money and get new carpet… I also wanted new furniture. All the stuff I had was hand me downs from my mom and my aunt. They weren’t exactly my style or taste, but they were in good shape and, well…, I’m frugal! So I used them saying to myself “someday…” Someday came. I broke open the piggy bank and got all new furniture… and carpet! Of course this led to a repainting of the room because, as everyone knows, you can’t put new stuff in an old room! Now comes the bad part… almost 8 weeks later and I’m still not done! I have a little touch up to do on the base boards from the carpet install and yet…I can’t seem to find the time or energy to do it. This weekend it will get done. Cross my heart.

I’m sitting here writing this at work as I wait for my phones to blow up. As I sit here, I’m listening to a co-worker 3 cubes away eat his dry cereal for breakfast. I don’t think anyone taught him how to eat as a child; open mouth, insert food, CLOSE MOUTH then chew. This is one thing that could drive me to kill. Just a warning.

OOHH!!! I also moved into the 21st century and got a cell phone! Yes.. you heard right – A CELL PHONE! My niece laughed at me. “Aunt Vel, you haven’t had a phone in YEARS and the first one you get is an iPhone?!” Damn straight skippy!

I think I saw that guy 3 cubes away from you eat at the cafeteria in my university once... no wait. That was too long ago. :-)

Glad the job is going well. I've been meaning to call or e-mail.

I thought you gave me a cell number once. Hmmm....
